Baby Anna, a 155-pound Southern White Rhinoceros learns to wallow in the mud at Lion Country Safari - West Palm Beach. Anna was born 4/6/13 and was named after after rhino conservationist Anna Merz, who passed away on April 4th. Merz was one of the founders of The Lewa Conservancy which was started to help save and conserve the Rhinos of Kenya and has grown to help conserve many species of birds and mammals in Africa. Of the 5 species of rhinos (White, Black, Indian, Sumatran and Javan) the white rhino is the most abundant with approximately 20,150 alive today but all 5 species are in peril due mostly to poaching.

Trish Wimberley looks after hundreds of orphaned baby bats and rears them until they can be released into the wild. It's a tireless, never ending job which keeps her awake all hours (she apparently went 3 nights without sleeping once). A typical day may include feeding (the food is about $1000 a week), health checks, doing their laundry (the dryer and washing machine electricity bill costs up to $8000 every 3 or 4 months!), bat transportation for release -- everything they need in order to survive. You'd think she'd need an army of people to help but she makes do with only a few loyal volunteers. It just goes to show, motherhood can transcend between all species and Trish is happy playing that role to assist a creature that is vital to the Australian ecosystem. Happy eggs has linked up with a team of designers to create a Wallace & Gromit-style device that makes pancakes from eggs laid just minutes before. The cracking contraption takes its cue from a free range hen laying an egg to set in motion a chain reaction that makes the world's freshest pancake. The Pancake-omatic took a team of four design engineers more than 200 hours to construct and a further 100 to test. The device which will go on display at the Design Museum later this month, uses a wide selection of household objects including an old-style gramophone and an electric whisk and features a luxury nest throne for the hen to lay her egg in - we think it's the best invention to eat the most delicious pancakes! Its caused by a virus that infected his mother while she was pregnant, and it causes the cerebellum part of the brain to not develop properly. This causes the affected kittens to be clumsier than usual, but it causes them no pain. He also has a congenital heart defect, which we are currently in the process of treating. He was originally found abandoned in a cardboard box in front of a cat clinic. A technician there with a warm heart bottle fed him and nursed him back to health. They were having a hard time finding him a home so they contacted me to see if I could help them spread the word about this special boy.

This is my "Full Moon Silhouettes" short, as seen originally on Vimeo. It is a real time video of the moon rising over the Mount Victoria Lookout in Wellington, New Zealand. People had gathered up there this night to get the best view possible of the moon rising. I captured the video from 2.1km away on the other side of the city. It\'s something that I\'ve been wanting to photograph for a long time now, and a lot of planning and failed attempts had taken place. Finally, during moon rise on the 28th January 2013, everything fell into place and I got my footage.
