Clipping Coupons For Money! Do You?

Clipping Coupons For Money! Do You?
By Michelle Oliver

Ok, I know I preach saving money, use coupons, and do a budget. But I also say what is good for some is not good for others. I know that some people cannot get their arms around a monthly budget. I also know that some people can not get their arms around coupons. I am one of those people. I know I am a not a coupon clipper. So I thought.

For years I have been telling my clients and friends clip coupons they can save you money. And I always followed up telling them I am not that person but it can save money. Now, I love watching the news and the news magazine shows. I was watching a show where this woman would buy $300 worth of groceries for $25 and she said it was easy. "She said it was easy?" I thought. She also said a dinner for about 5 people she was eating at the time of the interview cost $4. Since I work with numbers all day her numbers resonated in my head loudly. I can do that!

I ordered a Sunday paper chock full of coupons. I cut them out like I did in the past and I put them in a nice little baggie for my next trip to the store. Let's just say I went to the store 4 times and forgot my baggie full of savings. BUT...yesterday I did not. Yesterday I remembered my baggie full of savings.

I pursed the aisle of the supermarket finding the deals and saying wow is this all? Don't get me wrong, I was in the store longer than normal but I was saving money. At the end of my trip in the store the cashier ran up my items and I whipped out my coupons. I had so many he got a little nervous. He worked diligently taking of $3 dollars coupons and $2 dollar coupons. The total saving from my coupon homework assignment yesterday was a whopping $40.29. YES. And the items that I purchased were all needed in my household. No extras purchases because I had a coupon.

The moral to my story is this; always practice what you preach, so you can give real life examples for confirmation. I am now an official coupon clipper and user.
