Angelica the BOBCAT was rescued by Big Cat Rescue after her owner was in foreclosure and unable to keep her any longer. NO wild cat species will ever make a suitable pet unfortunately people often find this out the hard way and the cats are always the ones that suffer!

Brave Little Mandarin Ducklings

Brave little mandarin ducklings. The female mandarin nests in a tree hole and when it's time for everyone to leave she leads the way.

The ducklings are only twenty four hours old.

It's a long drop, and a few calls of encouragement are required.

They won't be safe until they reach water
and the forest pool is almost a mile away.

Baby Elephants Cooling Off

Recently, the keepers at the Houston Zoo gave Baylor and Tupelo a big kiddie pool. Now that Baylor weighs more than 1100 pounds and Tupelo weighs more than 600 pounds, the small, inflatable pools do not last longer than 5 minutes without getting popped. The babies now get a family size pool which is 120 inches in length and holds both calves. It is a lot more durable. This size pool lasts for about 5 uses before it has to be replaced. Playing in the pool is a fun enrichment activity for the babies and the pool is given to them when the weather allows.
